According to CR, the Jinan-Puyang section of the Jinan-Zhengzhou High Speed Railway was completed and opened to traffic on December 8. This signifies the full operation of the Jinan-Zhengzhou High Speed Railway, providing a travel time as short as 1 hour and 43 minutes between Jinanxi Railway Station and Zhengzhoudong Railway Station. The spatial distance between the Shandong Peninsula urban cluster and the Central Plains urban cluster has been further reduced.

The Jinan-Zhengzhou High Speed Railway originates from Jinanxi Railway Station, passing through Jinan City and Liaocheng City in Shandong Province, and cities in Henan Province including Puyang, Anyang, Xinxiang, and Zhengzhou, connecting to Zhengzhoudong Railway Station. The total length of the line is 407 kilometers with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The concurrently constructed connecting line between the railway and Jinan Railway Station is now in operation, connecting the Qingdao-Jinan High Speed Railway and the Qingdao-Jinan Railway. In the initial phase of operation, the railway authority plans to run passenger trains on a daily, weekend, and peak schedule, with a maximum of 61 daily high speed trains.

The Jinan-Zhengzhou High Speed Railway connects to the Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway in the east and the Beijing-Guangzhou High Speed Railway in the west. In the middle section, it intersects with the under-construction Beijing-Xiong’an-Shangqiu High Speed Railway at Liaochengxi Railway Station. This railway serves as a crucial link in the national “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” high speed rail network. After the full operation of the Jinan-Zhengzhou High Speed Railway, it will further optimize the regional railway network structure, facilitate travel for residents along the route, achieve interconnectedness between the Shandong Peninsula urban cluster and the Central Plains urban cluster, and play a crucial role in promoting ecological protection in the Yellow River basin and fostering high-quality development in the regional economy and society.
