Since the commencement of international passenger train services on the China-Laos Railway on April 13 this year, the Mohan Port has verified and cleared a total of 474 international passenger trains, facilitating the entry and exit of 100,186 passengers as of December 5. This milestone marks the surpassing of 100,000 international passengers.

Since its operation, the international passenger train services on the China-Laos Railway have proven to be the preferred choice for many Chinese and foreign travelers for tourism, studying, business, and cultural exchange in China and Laos, thanks to its cheap ticket prices, convenience, and comfort. Since July 25, 2023, the railway has implemented a new train schedule, reducing the customs clearance time from the original 3 hours to 2 hours. The travel time from Kunmingnan Railway Station to Vientiane Railway Station has been shortened from the previous 10 and a half hours to around 9 and a half hours, making it possible for passengers to enjoy a quick journey from having Yunnan rice noodles in China’s Kunming in the morning to sipping coffee in Vientiane, Laos, in the afternoon.

The China-Laos Railway, since its opening, has extended the tourism industry chain, actively contributing to the economic and social development of countries and regions along the route. It has also provided transportation support for the high-quality construction of the “Belt and Road” Initiative (BRI). Serving as a link, the China-Laos Railway showcases a beautiful China to the world and allows more tourists to experience the beauty, civilization, diversity, openness, and happiness in China.
